The summer Board of Managers (BOM) meeting was held at the North Carolina State University Club in Raleigh on August 22, 2015. Several awards from the National SAR Congress held back in July were presented, as well as State awards to deserving members.

Discussion points during the meeting included:

– The SAR National dues were increased to $35 (from $30) beginning January 1, 2016

– Discussion only about lowering the State Supplemental Lineage Application fee from $15 each to $7.50 each for other family members who are submitting their Supplemental request at the same time using the same lineage.  (The question will be voted upon during the Winter BOM meeting.)

– Discussion only about having a structured set of minimum requirements for Chapters to operate to maintain their charter. Discussion points included that a chapter should sponsor at least one historical site celebration or public awareness program annually and at least one youth program annually. Chapters should also send the required BOM and Annual Meeting chapter report of activities. More discussions on these topics will be held at the annual meeting in Charlotte in April 2016.

– The 27th state chapter, the COL Alexander Erwin chapter in Morganton, NC, had their charter approved. Their chartering ceremony will be held September 12 in Morganton.
