At a recent meeting of the Halifax County Board of Commissioners meeting Major Patrick Neil Aycock was awarded the SAR Law Enforcement Commendation Medal. Major Aycock was recognized for his service on the recommendation of Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp.  The recommendation read as follows:

“Neil Patrick Aycock began his law enforcement career at the age of 20 when he began with the Enfield Police Department in 1994. After his start there, Neil was hired by Sheriff M.L. Stalling in 1995 where he worked as a Hollister deputy. Neil has continued to work as a deputy under Sheriff Jeff Frazier and now our current Sheriff Wes Tripp. Under the leadership of the current and previous Sheriffs, Neil has risen through the ranks from Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant and now the position he serves as the Major.  During Neil’s career he has also served as an outstanding K9 deputy, where he has assisted in the apprehension of suspects sought for the murder of a local fallen officer, made hundreds of narcotic finds and tracked / located many suspects. Neil’s leadership today allows for continued success with the Sheriffs office for years to come. He’s a leader that many young deputies run to for all of the answers.”
