Raleigh, North Carolina – December 16, 2017:  NC SAR Raleigh Chapter President, Robert Sigmon and members of the Raleigh Chapter participated in the Wreaths Across American Celebration at Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Downtown Raleigh.  The chapter was privileged to serve as color guard, posting the colors at the beginning of the ceremony, as well as reading the NSSAR President General’s Proclamation. Attendees were welcomed by Robin Simonton, Executive Director, Historic Oakwood Cemetery and a moment of silence was held in honor of those who sacrificed.   The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Julie Webb, American Gold Star Mothers. After the National Anthem and additional opening remarks, Remembrance Wreaths were placed by each branch of the Military, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine.    After a closing prayer and Echo Taps, the Raleigh Chapter retired the colors and wreaths were placed on all the graves in the Field of Honor.
