The Halifax Resolves Chapter will meet at 6:30 pm Wednesday, May 9th, 2018, in the Fellowship Hall of the Halifax United Methodist Church, 152 King St., Halifax, NC. A meal will be served at a cost of $10.00 per person. The guest speaker will be our own chapter member Don Malcolm, who will speak on “The American Longrifle (aka the Pennsylvania/Kentucky Rifle) — an American Art Form.”

The Mecklenburg Chapter welcomes historical artist Dan Nance as our special guest for the May meeting!
During his twenty year career, Nance has released over two dozen prints and graced numerous book and magazine covers, growing a wide audience of authoritative scholars and historical interpreters who respect his integrity, as well as faithful patrons and enthusiasts who love his action-packed and emotional portrayals of our past.
Dan will bring some of his most popular American Revolution prints and will have several for sale. RSVP will be available soon.

Members of SAR, DAR, C.A.R., SR and other Patriotic/Historical Societies are hereby invited to participate in a formal wreath laying ceremony at Alamance Battleground at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 19, 2018 to commemorate Alamance County’s three 1781 Revolutionary Battles: Pyle’s Defeat, Clapp’s Mill and Lindley’s Mill, and the Pre-Revolutionary May 16, 1771 Battle of Alamance. This year’s event will be held as in the past at the Patriot’s Monument, Alamance Battleground State Park. Color Guard units are encouraged to bring chapter and ceremonial flags and wear period uniforms or militia dress. Dignitaries and representatives of patriotic societies are invited to present wreaths.
Those who arrive early are invited to tour the grounds. There will be food sold at the site and for those who would prefer, lunch at the Cutting Board restaurant at 12:00 PM is always a great choice. The Cutting Board restaurant is located along the Interstate-40 access road at EXIT #143 (intersection of I-40 with Highway 62).
Participants in the 2:00 pm wreath laying ceremony are requested to arrive at the Park Patriots’ Monument before 1:30 P.M. The NCSSAR combined Color Guard will lead the processional.
Directions to Alamance Battleground State Park are: From Interstate-40 take Exit 143, then south on Highway 62 for approximately six miles, Alamance Battleground State Military Park entrance is on the right (GPS = 5803 North Carolina 62, Burlington, NC).

Please join us Sunday, May 27 (1:30 pm) at Raleigh National Cemetery for the annual Memorial Day Service and Wreath Laying Ceremony.
The Raleigh Concert Band will start playing at 1:30 p.m., the ceremony will begin at 2:00 p.m. In order to pay tribute to our fallen comrades, representatives of several patriotic organizations will place wreaths at the graves of our fallen comrades.
The guest speaker will be Robert Stark Adams, Jr., MD, MBA (US Army DELTA Force & Navy SEAL). Dr. Adams is also a published Author – Six Days of Impossible, Navy SEAL Hell Week – a Doctor Looks Back (Friesen Press, November 13, 2017).
The NCSSAR Raleigh Chapter will lay a wreath on the grave of Medal of Honor recipient William Maud Bryant.
