On November 16, the New Bern Chapter inducted a new Compatriot Bruce Martin. His Patriot Ancestor was Richard Martin who enlisted in May 1777 at the age of 19 with the 4th regiment of the Maryland Continental Line. In September 1777, he was shot in the leg at the Battle of Brandywine Creek. He was treated by American physicians but his war injury left him partially disabled. In June 1778, he fought in the Battle of Monmouth, New Jersey and later was involved in several other skirmishes.
