The Mecklenburg Chapter, along with the Godfrey Dreher Chapter, SCSSAR, will conduct a grave marking beginning at 10:00am at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery for Patriot John Carothers (1755-1838).

Patriot Carothers served with his brothers James (1750-1836) and Robert (1750-1837) in the Mecklenburg Militia under Colonel Robert Ervin during the American Revolution. They fought in the Battle of Hanging Rock.

All SAR, DAR and CAR members, as well as members of the public, are invited to attend.

A lunch will be held immediately following the ceremony at Hickory Tavern of Steele Creek,
13545 Steelcroft Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28278. Follow Steele Creek Rd. from the church to the S. Tryon traffic light, turn right on S. Tryon,
then turn right into the AT&T shopping center entrance. That is where Hickory Tavern is located!
